FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Waves Open Air sees itself as a festival that aims to be equally accessible to all people. The needs of our visitors with disabilities are especially important to us.
Therefore, on our way to becoming an inclusive festival, we are advised by experts to ensure the best possible stay for everyone present.
Below, together with the initiative Barrierefrei Feiern, we have summarized the most important information regarding accessibility. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact our service email: barrierefreiheit@waves-openair.de
At Waves Open Air, there will be an inclusively trained awareness team on site to support you with questions, accessibility needs, or concerns. You can recognize the awareness team by their pink vests.
There is also a meeting point that is continuously staffed by the awareness team.
Further information can be found in our FAQs Awareness
Visitors with disabilities may bring one accompanying person to the festival free of charge. No extra ticket or prior registration is required. Please note that you and your free accompanying person must check in together.
We are aware that not all disabilities are visible or officially/medically recognized. If you have a disability or chronic condition but do not have an official ID with the markers “B”, “BL”, or “H”, yet have specific needs, please contact: barrierefreiheit@waves-openair.de
Arrival to Waves Open Air is accessible via the Mellendorf train station.
There are 10 designated parking spaces on the street directly opposite the Jugendhalle, close to the festival entrance. These spaces can be used free of charge upon presentation of a disability badge (the badge holder does not need to be the vehicle owner).
The accessible entrance is located next to the regular entrance (“VIP Entrance”).
Wheelchair users as well as people with other (temporary) impairments may use this entrance.
If you are arriving as a group, all other guest must show a valid ticket upon entry all your friends may of course use this entrance as well.
Please note that only your companion receives free entry; all others must show their regular ticket.
The festival grounds include various surface types such as dry meadow, and other uneven terrain. These surfaces may be challenging for wheelchair users in some areas. We recommend involving your companion(s) if needed. If you encounter additional barriers on site, please contact our awareness team.
Accessible toilets are located throughout the festival grounds and are reserved exclusively for visitors with disabilities. If you notice any issues with cleanliness or misuse, please report them to the Awareness Team immediately.
Visitors with invisible disabilities (e.g., chronic illnesses) are also welcome to use these facilities. To avoid having to explain your situation, you can pick up a special wristband at the meeting point.
Certified assistance and guide dogs are welcome at Waves Open Air. For safety reasons, however, they are not allowed in the areas directly in front of the stages. We ask for your understanding.
If you rely on an assistance dog and plan to bring one, please register in advance at barrierefreiheit@waves-openair.de
Some program items include dynamic lighting effects. If this poses a physical or mental health concern for you, please take good care of yourself and contact our staff immediately if you feel unwell.
We hope for your understanding that lighting effects are a popular form of visual design at concerts and that we only have limited control over the artists decisions. Thank you!
Please inform security at the entrance about your medications or medical aids.
Our staff may not be familiar with every medical condition, so please let us know how we can best assist you.
If you need to bring medication onto the festival grounds, that must be kept cool please register this early! This allows us to prepare the necessary arrangements.
If you have diabetes, you may bring your insulin pen onto the grounds.
Our medical tent is available for medical care at any time.
Medications such as asthma sprays, painkillers, and allergy medication do NOT need to be registered.
