Born in New Zealand, based in Berlin. DJ Cringey blends all things electronic, with her take on a melting pot of techno, acid, EBM and house, creating experimental subgenres with eclectic vocals.
Cringey started out her journey into music DJ’ing at house parties, mixing genres in a ‘cringe’ way that people had never heard before, but people liked it and her alias took form. A style of mixing she continues to stand by today, she cares a lot about her track selections, to make sure she always creates a unique experience on the dancefloor. “The key is to not take yourself too
seriously” she adds.
Drawing influences from Charlie XCX, Gabriette and Victoria De Angelis for her style both aesthetically and musically, she aims to give off a bold, edgy and somewhat mysterious yet fun vibe.
DJ Hyperdriveʼs energetic Groovetrance sets are characterised by a rhythmic, pulsating bassline and crisp hi-hats. A selection including old-school 90ʼs gems provides smooth synths which he skillfully mixes with work from his peers in the new generation of underground trance producers. The result is a groovy, hypnotic and trippy journey evolving through peaks and valleys that keep the dance floor moving.
Background
DJ Hyperdrive has played across his adopted home of Berlin at the biggest venues including RSO, Tresor and Münze. He has also played Boiler Room @ Glitch Festival, XXL Techno & Teletech and Sound Department. Starting in 2024 he began his first intercontinental tours, seeing him booked in Australia, Canada and the US.
